It is Mothers Day this weekend and we want to take a moment to celebrate and honour our mom, Myrna Bartsch. We have been blessed by a wonderful strong woman to be mother to us.
Growing up, there was four of us kids, but you would more often than not find extra people around the dinner table, whether it was friends, neighbours or unexpected guests. Mom could make a satisfying meal out of very little and never turned away visitors. We learned the meaning of generosity by watching her share with kindness. We didn't have much back then but it was always shared with anyone in need.
She also showed us how to work hard, both our parents modeled this from as long as we can remember. She's been working side by side with our dad on many different projects and now they work together in this furniture business. They worked hard to provide for us and yet always took time to do fun things together as a family. Time spent together was important and mom made sure there was always food involved.
We traveled a lot because we have family in different countries and that meant spending a lot of time together in the car. Four kids together in tight spaces can be a challenge and mom would get very creative in distracting us from arguments and heated discussions. We now laugh at some of these memories of how she managed to get our attention diverted.
Our mother is a strong woman. She has faced many difficulties together with our dad and she knows where her strength comes from. Her prayers are what has influenced our lives through out all our growing up years. She still works hard and loves hard. Her grandkids are now learning the fun and important things from their grandma and we are blessed that our children know and love our mom as much as we do.
This mother's day, if you still have your mom with you even if she's far away, make sure to let her know how much you love her. Most moms just want to spend time with their children but if you're looking for a way to spoil her, to treat her special, come in to one of our locations or go online to find her something special for this Mother's Day!
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”~Proverbs 31
